Lifestyles & Activities

At Woodlands, living in a skilled nursing facility does not mean the end to an active life. Our monthly activities schedule is full of daily activities including evening and weekend events. We believe our Residents should continue to be an active part of our community.

Individual activities range from one-on-one conversations, reading or writing mail, discussions of current events and board or table games. More involved activities can range anywhere from trips to Mountaineer, attending Mahoning Valley Scrappers games, fishing trips and shopping trips, to name a few.

A number of in-house group activities are held daily.

Some include exercise programs, movies, bingo or group games. Others include live entertainment brought to us by local musicians, schools, or clubs; and each month a special birthday party is held to celebrate Residents birthdays during the month.

Community activities vary depending upon the time of year. Community events include trips to local restaurants, shopping trips, picnics, concerts, boat trips, fishing trips, bingo games, and many other outside activities. Our Residents also participate in local parades, the Canfield Fair, and the Senior Olympics.

Special activities include family days to celebrate holidays. Special celebrations such as "Ethnic Days" are held to recognize the diversity of our Residents. Another special activity is regularly scheduled religious services which are held each Sunday. Our special programs include, but are not limited to:

Intergenerational Programs

Many of our Residents enjoy the opportunity to share programs, holiday parties and other events with children from our on-site day care center. This program is growing and is beneficial to both our Residents, as well as the children.
